A class divided

My thoughts towards the case study i just watched are,  the study accurately depicts how kids create stereotypes towards others in their minds. For instance, due to the reason of the teacher making fun of the kids with brown eyes, one kid thought it was alright for him to make fun of a kid with brown eyes. Simply because he witnessed a figure of authority, his teacher,  denouncing brown-eyed kids, a small child went out of his way to do the same.

Personally, there were particular stereotypes that i held towards certain races in the past. However as i have grown up over the years, i have come across a lot of different people in school, and in sports. Due to this reason my negative stereotypes towards different individuals of different races have diminished. I believe people hold negative views or stereotypes for two reasons.  Maybe, as a small child  they were taught to, or they have witnessed an event in the past that distorted their thinking, and in turn, causing them to pick up certain stereotypes or beliefs. Possibly, the kids held a value that their elders are always correct. Maybe this is why the kids believed teasing brown-eyed kids was alright to do. Society is greatly affected when a large number of people hold similar prejudice beliefs. This is because the greater number of people who hold prejudice beliefs, the number of people who get affected by bullying and prejudice substantially increases. Hence, the on-going conflict of "Black lives matter". The number of people who hold unfair and unjust beliefs against African Americans has risen greatly in the past few years. In turn, the toll of people who get unfairly dealt with has also been on the rise. All in all, for humanity to get rid, or at least lessen the racism and prejudice situations that go on in the world, the ideas and thoughts of racism must be nipped in the bud at a young age.
